Robert Kleine is currently the interim director of the MSU Extension Center for Local Government and Finance, where he has been serving September 2016. He is also a Partner at Great Lakes Economic Consulting (GLEC), a position he has held since 2011. Mr. Kleine was the treasurer of the State of Michigan from 2006 to 2011 where he was responsible for managing a department of 1,700 employees. He spent 10 years as director of the Michigan Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis in the administration of Michigan Gov. William Milliken, 15 years as vice president and senior economist at Public Sector Consultants, was a senior fellow at the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations, and taught public finance at MSU from 1998-2000. Mr. Kleine has extensive experience in analyzing public policy issues, state and local government budgets, economic forecasting, tax policy analysis, and school organization and finance.
